Marcia Crocker Noyes: The Librarian Who Never Left

Marcia Crocker Noyes was hired by Dr. William Osler in 1896 and worked at MedChi until her death in 1946. She lived in the penthouse apartment in our 1909 building and bought a car in the mid-1910's. She was a suffragette and owned a summer camp for girls in the Adirondacks.

Learn how Marcia became friends with some of the most influential physicians of her day, how she became the first director of the Medical & Chirurgical Faculty, and then the first women President of the Medical Librarian, and how she professionalized the Faculty and its programs.

This 80-page soft-cover book is filled with stories of Marcia’s life as we know it, as well as historic details about MedChi in the late 1800s and first half of the 1900s. It has dozens of historic photographs, sourced from our archives and other historic documents. In addition, there are tales of Marcia after her death and her continued “life” in our 1909 building.

All funds raised through the sale of this book will support MedChi's historic archives. This book is being printed on demand, so there may be a two- to three-week delay between the time you order it and the time it arrives. If you order the PDF version of the book, you will receive a link to a flippable version of it.
