Second Annual Halloween Ghost Tour
Please join us during Halloween Week for the Second Annual Ghost Tour of the Medical & Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland (MedChi), one of the five most-haunted buildings in Baltimore. We are offering tours Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of Halloween week from 6:30 to 7:30. If you choose Halloween, we encourage you to dress up!
Marcia Crocker Noyes was the librarian at MedChi for 50 years, beginning in 1896. Her job required that she live on the premises so she could be available at any time of the day or night for physicians needing a reference book from our library. And she has never left!
For decades, there have been stories of footsteps echoing in the hallways and on the marble staircase, finding items which appear with no explanation, or catching glimpses of a figure out of the corner of an eye… You will hear stories of Marcia Crocker Noyes, her exploits as a modern woman in the early 20th century, and her "spirited" life at MedChi.
Although there is no guarantee that we will see Marcia, you will see our 1909 building with its elegant architecture, cast iron stacks with more than 50,000 books, art collection dating back to 1700, rare book collection with volumes as early as the 1500s, and lots more.
Reservations are a must. Tickets are $10/person, and funds raised will be used to help preserve our archives and support the history of medicine in Maryland. For more information, please email events@medchi.org. Sign up quickly, as the tours sold out in two hours last year and are limited to 20 guests per evening. After you pay, you can choose the evening you wish to attend.
